Hadrian, 117-138. Cistophorus (Silver, 28 mm, 10.68 g, 6 h), Pergamum. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P Bare-headed and draped bust of Hadrian to right, seen from behind. Rev. COS III Aesculapius standing front, head to left, leaning right on serpent-entwined staff. Metcalf 3. RPC III online 1324.9 (this coin). Rare and struck on a broad and medallic flan. Somewhat porous and with light scratches on the obverse and traces of overstriking on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

This coin was overstruck on a cistophorus of Mark Antony and Octavia (RPC I 2202), with part of the original obverse legend appearing to the left of Aesculapius' head.
